This book is a true story, written in hopes that children (and the parents of those children) who have Juvenile Diabetes will benefit from it.
If only ONE child that is a Juvenile Diabetic is touched and effected by my story, then my job has not been in vain.
This work has been a long time in the making. The idea came to me as I lay in the hospital having tests done. I wanted to let kids know exactly what can and will happen as a result of having diabetes and not taking it seriously.
All of the artwork is original. Wanting to do illustrations in a different way, with a unique look, this method allowed me to fully express my thoughts and feelings on each and every page. This is my testimony.
My goal in writing and illustrating my story is exactly what is stated in the book - for children to learn from my story and not make the same mistakes that I did.
Parents, encourage your Juvenile Diabetic to read this book, read it with them, read it to them and enjoy.

Very inspiring book. What a way to deal with what life hands you! Tomi has really learned to handle things well & does a great job passing it along.
I am impressed and inspired by the great attitude that the author has. Tomi has faced many health problems but has stayed optimistic, no matter what life has handed her.
I found this book very helpful for those who are just learning how to deal with diabetes. I believe it is always encouraging, and helpful to hear the stories and experiences of someone who has gone through the same thing before. This book not only offers many helpful tips on practical things...what to do and not do...as a diabetic, but also the emotions that one may experience upon learning of this disease, (fear, confusion) and understanding how to make necessary lifestyle changes.
